About me

and my approach to therapy

Education and Training

My own self-exploration led me to an interest in psychology and related sciences. I then attained a master’s degree in clinical psychology with a specialization in health and sexuality and a Ph.D. in Sociology from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with an emphasis on diversity, and the sociology of sex.

Obtaining a Ph.D. in sociology rather than psychology helped me to understand the many social, cultural, and political factors that can have an impact on mental health.

I’m licensed in the state of Nevada (USA) as a Clinical Professional Counselor and I’m currently working as a counselor, mental health coach and consultant.

My approach

My approach to mental health is wholistic as I recognize the connection between mind, body, and environment. I believe in our interrelatedness to the land, nature, to all living things and to each other. I think that from honoring these relationships, a new kind of inner wellness is born.

I believe that mental health care is a universal human right and that access to supportive services is important for all people, not just those who can afford it. Everyone deserves to get support when they need it.

I also see mental health as closely related to physical and environmental health. What happens in our mind is reflected in our body and in our environment and vice versa. How I work and think reflects these principles.

My method

I experimented with diverse therapeutic perspectives and have many years of experience in yoga, dance, art, meditation, and mindfulness. These personal and professional experiences are now integrated in my work to support people in their life journeys.

It is important to me to acknowledge that we live in a multicultural global community, and I celebrate diversity of cultures, faiths, races, sexualities, genders, classes, abilities, and identities.

I have experience connecting with sex, gender, and relationship diverse individuals, people working in the sex industry and with persons struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, and stigma.

Although I specialize in these areas, this is not a comprehensive list of the issues and the adults I work with.

I also recognize sex work as work.

If you are in a crisis (suicidal ideation and intention or experiencing violence) and need immediate medical and health services, please let me know immediately and I can provide referral options
