Counseling
Self-exploration is an incredible act of courage; I’m honored that you would consider me to be your guide and partner in your inner journey.
My counselling sessions focus on client empowerment, autonomy, and on providing support alternatives outside of traditional mental health systems.
I’m committed to listening, exploring, and supporting your journey, occasionally providing feedback and reflection when you consent to receive it. Our time together usually requires curiosity and risk-taking on both sides.
I fundamentally believe people are resilient and have inherent power to heal and reconnect to their authentic self and to each other, if they choose.
While I’m traditionally trained and I am familiar with psychological diagnoses, I’m not a “traditional” counselor. This means that I often don’t diagnose but prefer to view people as doing the best they can to adjust creatively to the numerous challenges that modern life presents; not as “sick” people in need of “treatment.”
I have a flexible approach to our time together.
Depending on your needs, we may include movement, stretching, mindfulness, breathing exercises, walking in nature, art, and interactions with pets.
I believe in the healing potential of the human-animal bond and sometimes I have incorporated pets in therapy to help individuals reach emotions and develop trust that was previously inaccessible to them.
Most of my services are provided online so some modalities may be unavailable unless we find ourselves in the same geographical location.
